TIPPERARY v WATERFORD

Pairc Ui Chaoimh, Cork

Saturday 4th August

Throw-in @ 5.30pm

Referee: Owen Elliott (Antrim)

Tipperary are looking to make the next step in their development in the All Ireland Senior Camogie Championship quarter final this Saturday.

Tipperary take on first time quarter finalists Waterford in the first match of the double header at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, while Dublin face Galway in the second quarter final, with both games live on RTE2.

The winners will go into the semi-finals with the draw taking place immediately after the second match where Cork and Kilkenny lie in wait to face them in Semple Stadium on Saturday 18 August.

The Premier girls have been here before, in fact over the last three years and have been unable to progress beyond that but there is hope that they can make a semi-final for the first time in ten years.

While they have lived dangerously throughout this campaign, the manner in which they won three and drew one of their five games indicates the battling qualities of the team. Apart from a 6-14 to 0-9 win over Meath in round one, their second round win over Wexford was tight 1-14 to 2-8 with a last minute goal from Miriam Campion the decisive score. Their only defeat was to a powerful Cork side who had a double score win, 1-27 to 1-12. Tipp hit back for a snatch and grab late win over Offaly with Grace O'Brien's last gasp goal seeing them to a 1-14 to 2-10 win. Then came the all important draw with Dublin that gave them second place in group 2 by virtue of score difference and sees them into on paper should be a more winnable quarter final.

In terms of injury, June player of the month and championship top-scorer Cáit Devane is carrying a knee injury while defender Jean Kelly is gone for the remainder of the season after she broke her collarbone against Offaly.
