McGeever welcomes experience in Euro's

On July 16th, all eyes in the political landscape will be laser-focused on Helsinki, as US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin descend on the Finnish capital for one of the most hotly-anticipated summits of recent times.

Last week, a different mood pervaded the city, as it played host to the 45th annual European Junior Swimming Championships, which saw Ballina native Finn McGeever make his debut at the competition, part of a 15 member Irish squad.

Despite expressing slight frustration with his performances over the five day event, McGeever’s reflections have a positive air to them, indicating that the 18 year-old didn’t feel out of his depth, figuratively speaking.

Overall it wasn’t bad, I am a bit disappointed with how I swam, but it was a great experience, just to see who’s out there, to see the top dogs, and then compete against them.”
