Severe Weather Alert Update - Tipperary

Severe Weather Management Team
The team convened again this evening at 17.30 hours and will convene again tomorrow morning to assess the position;

Current Situation
Snow accumulations continuing to increase across the county;

A "Status Orange" weather alert is now in place for Tipperary, valid from 16.00 hours Friday 2nd March until 09.00 hours Saturday 3rd March 2018.

Snow Plough and Gritting Routes
Snow plough and salting operations continued throughout the day with over 700 km of National Primary, National secondary and Regional routes covered;

The NRA are reporting that the Motorway network remains open with both lanes operating on the M7 but only 1 lane on the M8 is open;

All National and Regional routes within the county are passable with the exception of the N62 Thurles to Roscrea but extreme caution is advised if driving;

All  outdoor crews will be mobilised from 08.00 hours tomorrow morning Saturday 3rd March and the focus of attention will be to treat all national and regional routes again and to commence clearing footpaths within all the urban centres throughout the county;

The Council's Civil Defence crews have been providing transport support to the HSE transferring patients and staff throughout the day;
