Crystal Swing

Crystal Swing for Kilcommon Fest

Crystal Swing are among the acts to look out for at the 39th annual Kilcommon Festival, which takes place in the village from August 4th to 7th.

This is a special celebration each year when families gather from home and abroad to renew their ties in a festive atmosphere. The festival has a special place in the summer calendar for the great crowds that gather each year from a wide area. Since the initiative by the Government to invite the diaspora home, the festival has found new momentum attracting large numbers for a special time in the hills.

On Saturday August 3rd there's a welcoming party in the Community Centre at 9pm. A huge concert featuring local talent will provide a magical feast of entertainment coupled with a light meal for all the patrons.

The concert will feature Jim Ryan (Mill) and family of Upperchurch fame, together with Jerry Doyle, a professional local artist who plies his trade in Germany, and the most talented Nolan family of Rearcross. The youth of Kilcommon will also star on the night, as the County Scór winners, Amy Ryan, Miriam Butler and Roisin Hickey entertain the crowds.

Sunday August 6th is the heartbeat of the festivities when Crystal Swing will take the stage amid a welter of competitions and children's frolics. Then the celebrations continue on the street when Jerry Doyle, David Hughes and invited guests will play into the night from the public stage.

The festival opens on Friday August 4th with a non competitive 5k run/walk followed by a race night in Carr's pub.

The stage is set, the plans are complete for what promises to be a memorable weekend in the hills. The festival committee would like to thank all of their sponsors and the voluntary workers who give tirelessly of their time and effort in preparation for what promises to be a most enjoyable weekend in the Slieve Felims.
