Success for Ormond musicians at Munster Fleadh
Ormond CCÉ enjoyed great success at Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan, which was held last weekend in Cork, hosted by the Douglas branch.
We had lots of members competing in various competitions, so well done to everyone who took part.
Many of our members were placed in their respective competitions – SÃofra Thornton, BláithÃn Kennedy, Jack McPartlin, John Kennedy, Laoise Kennedy, Clodagh Kennedy, Anna O'Dwyer and Máiréad O'Brien.
Many of these will go through to Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in more than one competition, which is a huge achievement, especially for our under 12s, some of whom still have a few more years in their age group - maith sibh go léir! Special mention must go to Fergal Kilgannon who was placed third in the Over 18 Piano Accordion – apparently he has a few years left in this age category too – well done Fergal!
Unfortunately there was to be no joy for our very talented U15 grúpa cheoil and our U12 Céilà band. These are very tough competitions to get through in so we will be the better for the experience. The branch would like to thank everyone for the great effort put in over the past few months to get this far.
