Nenagh street repairs to take place after Ervia works

A comprehensive repair of Nenagh's streets will take place following completion of Ervia's gas, water and wastewater project in the town.

A recent meeting of Nenagh Municipal District heard that the project could go on until September 2017. Ervia is funding the restoration of several streets but not all of them, Director Marcus O'Connor pointing out that some streets were in a poor condition before the works began. The council would be funding repairs in a number of areas.

Cllr Hughie McGrath (Ind) had hoped that the Ervia contractors would start the restoration in tandem with pipe laying. Mr O'Connor said settlement needs to occur in all trenches first. The council is also anxious to minimise traffic disruption, he said.

Cllr John Carroll (FF) joined Cllr McGrath in expressing concern that street works would be taking place in the town up to Christmas 2017.

District Engineer Peter Fee said the council recently met with the contractors to press home these concerns.
