Another Nightmare in Nenagh!

Local music outfit Nightmare Productions is running another showcase of North Tipp metal talent at The Well bar in Nenagh on Saturday August 20th.

Nenagh bands Zylum, A Washington State of Mind and The Masses will be joined by the Roscrea based Unkindness of Ravens along with Cork band The Magnapinna.

This will be the first Nenagh gig for Unkindness Of Ravens, which features Roscrea men Darren Keegan, Daryl Hogan and Shane Fitzgerald, along with Danielle Egan from Capparoe and Philly Brett from Nenagh.

Formed in the winter of 2012, Unkindness of Ravens create a style of music that is melancholic and dramatic. Signed to DG records in Michigan, they released their first album 'Under Stolen Skies' in 2015 after recording in a 200 year-old house at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. Part of the video for their song ‘Leanan Sídhe’ was filmed in the Slieve Blooms
The video received positive attention at home and among audiences abroad, impressed by the local band's dark take on Irish myth and scenery. It became a showcase for the band’s style and aesthetic, with down-tuned string arrangements as a backdrop to haunting organ and distorted violin, fused with intricate drums, vocal harmonies and reverb-drenched distorted guitars.

Just back from playing a festival in Lviv, Ukraine, Unkindness of Ravens, are currently writing new material for their second album, aimed for release this winter.

Nenagh's Zylum have also been around since 2012. Their lineup of Philly Brett, Andre Foley and Ashley Holt are out invoke darkness and fear into the heart of the metal scene. Zylum simply brings forward your deepest inner thoughts, regrets and fears through a mix of black, industrial and doom-like tempos, taking influence from Triptykon, Marilyn Manson and Satyricon.

Zylum's first recording 'Isolated' was released in early 2013. They'll be releasing their new EP 'Pray for Nothing' at the upcoming in The Well.
Also playing will be The Magnapinna, Cork's dissonant alt-rockers featuring members worldwide. Support comes from Nenagh newcomers The Masses and A Washington State of Mind, a local band playing grunge and rock classic covers from the '90s.
Doors open at 8pm, first band on at 8.30 sharp! Check out the Nightmare Promotions Facebook page for more.
