Nenagh looks forward to the fleadh

Golden Tickets for the Munster Fleadh Cheoil were handed out at the Tipperary Fleadh Cheoil, which was recently held in the village of Golden. We wish all Tipperary winners the very best of luck.
Further “golden” tickets to the largest musical and cultural event in Munster this year will be handed out over the coming weeks at various Munster County Fleadhs before all winners converge upon Nenagh town from July 12th to 19th in what promises to be one of the biggest and best Munster Fleadhs to date.
Fundraising is still ongoing and recent events included a Buster Dog Night at Thurles Greyhound Track, a concert at the Scouts Hall in Nenagh featuring the Ned Kelly Traditional Orchestra and the Silvermines Folk Choir, and bag packing at Dunnes Stores, Nenagh. Church gate collections will continue over the coming weeks, and stay tuned to our website (www.munsterfleadh.ie), Facebook page and Twitter page for further details.
The excitement reached fever pitch in Nenagh town when our banner was recently put up across Pearse Street and now the countdown is well and truly underway. Visitors to Nenagh town can feel a sense of anticipation in the air and everyone is getting prepared to welcome the expected crowd of around 20,000 revellers that will flock to Nenagh during the week the Fleadh takes place.
Of course more work needs to be done and everyone has a part to play. We are still looking for accommodation and anyone interested in providing a room(s) during the week of the Fleadh is advised to contact our Accommodation Hotline at 087-2177962 for more details. Volunteers are also sought to help out especially during the weekend of July 17th - 19th (traffic management, putting up signs, stewards – indoor and outdoor, parking and post event clean up) and if you are interested you can contact us at 087-3322438 or email us at fleadhnamumhan2015@gmail.com.
We are continuously looking for sponsorship and committee members will be calling around to local businesses in Nenagh over the coming weeks to discuss options and plans available. It is hugely important that everyone gets on board and backs the Munster Fleadh 100%. It will be a major boost to the town’s businesses this year. We would like to thank our major sponsors Tipperary County Council, Arrabawn Co-op and ABP Meats without whose financial assistance this event would not be possible. Special mention also goes to Carey’s Glass, Nenagh, who were kind enough to sponsor the Kilfenora Céilí Band, who will be playing at the Scouts Hall on Friday July 17th in what promises to be a magical and memorable night. Finally, a huge thanks to the Munster Comhaltas members for their advice and help in organising the event.
Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan 2015, Nenagh 12th - 19th July, be there!
