Ccrs hopes of schools cup final still alive

Cistercian College Roscrea put in a towering display in Wednesday's Leinster Senior Schools Cup Semi-Final to keep their hopes alive of booking a place in the final after drawing 8-8 with Newbridge College.

Newbridge hit the front with a try through Jack Howlett in the eagerly-anticipated semi-final played in Donnybrook. The conversion was missed by Colm Doyle, who made amends for this miss on 15 mins when he slotted home a penalty. Following the turnaround Cistercian College got off the mark when Tim Foley landed a penalty.

Then on 53 mins, CCR's impressive maul sprung into action from a lineout and scrum-half Kavanagh burrowed over in the corner to level the game. The conversion went wide and CCR's Foley went close with another long-range penalty effort before Joe Murphy's try was ruled out for a foot in touch.

Details on the replay date, time and venue will be confirmed in the coming days.
