Lowry defends note to kenny

Michael Lowry lobbied the Taoiseach for a State board role for his former female press adviser – and informed Enda Kenny that she was 'not bad looking either'.

Mr Lowry has this week defended his decision to pass a note to the Taoiseach in the Dáil last week seeking to have Valerie O' Reilly reappointed to the board of the National Transport Authority.

The note, written by Mr Lowry and published by the Sunday Independent, said: 'Taoiseach, would you please consider reappointing Valerie O' Reilly to the board of the NTA. A woman, bright, intelligent and not bad looking either! Michael Lowry.'
