Fears for nenagh court staff
The Tipperary Solicitors Bar Association says it is determined to oppose the downgrading of the courts services in the county, including any move to reduce staff at Nenagh Courthouse.
A review of the services in Tipperary by the Courts Services has caused alarm, according to the Association, which is awaiting a final decision on whether staff at at Nenagh Courthouse will be transferred, most likely to Limerick.
The Association has asserted that such a move would inevitably result in a downgrading of the local courthouse – even though it says politicians, including ministers from the locality, have received an assurance that Nenagh Courthouse will not be closed.
The association has questioned the wisdom of the review of staffing in Nenagh, pointing out that up to €12million was spent in recent times repairing and modernising the local courthouse.
