A taste of roscrea in december

Following the tremendous success of “A Taste of Roscrea” Christmas Market over the past two years, preparations are well under way for this year's event, with  attractions for all the family.

This festival has lit up a fire of excitement and opportunity for the people of Roscrea and its hinterland.  Irish Electricity Provider PINERGY has announced their sponsorship of this year’s event which kicks off in the Damer Castle Grounds on Thursday December 4th

The four day festival will showcase all the best the region has to offer with full food and craft markets taking over the grounds for the weekend.  On Thursday the 4th of December children from five of the local schools and Chief Executive of PINERGY and Roscrea native Enda Gunnell will flick the switch to light up the festival at 5.30pm.

This year’s event hopes to attract over 20,000 visitors and there will be in excess of 60 exhibitors on the grounds over the four days to display their wares.  The free event will also see 15 schools involved in carol singing to add to the Christmas spirit in the Damer Castle Grounds. There will be several other set piece events taking place with a Fashion Show on Thursday in Aid of Scoil Mhuire Lismackin National School, a Christmas Concert held on Friday by Scoil Eoin Naofa and a Benefit Night on Saturday, featuring local artist and Tipperary Gospel Choir with all proceeds going to Dean Maxwell Community Nursing Unit. Also, on Saturday evening a Cookery Demonstration will take place by the much loved Clodagh McKenna at 7pm, tickets for this event are limited and with all proceeds to St. Vincent de Paul, therefore it is important to book early.
