Clonmel and Kilcommon Crew Ready For Cork Rally Challenge

Following 3rd placed Group N points on the John Mulholland Cars Ulster Rally; Clonmel’s Gus Kearney and Kilcommon’s Tommy Hayes, go to Cork this weekend securely in 2nd place in the Group N championship, with Cork’s David Guest having clinched the title with his Ulster victory. The Tipperary duo are going to the final round aiming to finish the season on a high, having shown increased speed in the last 12 months, but hampered by occasional misfortune. Having finished a fine 11th overall and 3rd in class on last year’s event, Gus and Tommy are determined to build on this result in their Gerry McGarrity Motorsport prepared Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9.

Gus’s brother Pat Kearney returned to the series with a fine 2nd in Group N on the Ulster Rally, partnered as always by Rosscarberry’s Alistair Wyllie. Unfortunately, due to business commitments, the duo are absent from the final round of the series, but will return next year.

A fantastic field of machinery Is entered for the event, with the Saturday stages situated within a 15km radius of the rally host town Fermoy and Sunday’s tests surrounding the town of Rathcormac.

It promises to be a fantastic rally, with the overall Tarmac Championship still up for grabs between Alistair Fisher and Keith Cronin. Both crews only separated by two points in a winner takes all finale in the Rebel County. All of us at Team Sepam Sport wish both crews the very best of luck this weekend and may the best team win and for all crews and spectators to have a safe, enjoyable and memorable weekend.
