Callanan blow for league campaign

A bulging disc in his back looks set to keep Seamus Callanan out for most of Tipperary's National Hurling League campaign which begins in less than two weeks time.

Manager Michael Ryan revealed the diagnosis after his sides final pre-season challenge game against Galway club champions Liam Mellows in Lorrha last Saturday.

Callanan was present at the game in which 21 players saw game time with the remainder undertaking a training session on the adjoining pitch.

We will be starting the league without Seamie and will have to play that one by ear and let him recuperate,” said the Tipperary manager about the likely timeline for his return.
