Ciara O'Sullivan(Stephanie Abrahams) and Kevin Walshe (Dr Feldmann) in rehearsals for the Nenagh Players' upcoming production Duet for One by Tom Kempinski

Nenagh Players onstage with 'Duet for One'

From next Wednesday, February 28th to Friday March 2nd, the Nenagh Players present Tom Kempinski's play 'Duet for One' in the Nenagh Arts Centre at 8pm each night.

'Duet for One' is about a world-famous concert violinist named Stephanie Anderson, who is suddenly struck with multiple sclerosis and her relationship with her psychiatrist.

The play is blessed with wit, insight and a refusal to wallow in misfortune. Dr Feldman (Kevin Walshe)'s quietly probing questions force Stephanie (Ciara O'Sullivan) to question everything she once believed - from her first steps into the music world to the basis of her marriage. Over a series of increasingly dramatic sessions, Stephanie is forced to face her deepest fears before she can finally face her future.

'Duet for One' is a very moving play; it looks at what happens when unexpected events lead you to revaluate your life. The play takes the form of a sequence of sessions between Stephanie and Feldman. At the beginning she is bright, apparently positive and claiming acceptance; but it is clear to both Feldman that this is a fragile façade, and as the play continues, we see that façade gradually crumble and we see begin to see Stephanie’s journey as she starts to show her emotions and her true feelings come to the surface.

'Duet for One' is directed by Donal Bray. After their Nenagh performances, the group will take 'Duet for One' on festival. The following are their dates and locations: Sunday March 4th – Castleisland, Thursday March 8th – Ballyduff, Monday March 12th – Mountmellick, Thursday March 15th – Scariff, Friday March 16th – Rossmore, Wednesday March 21st – Glenamaddy and Saturday March 24th – Holycross.
