Durrow day out for 'Mines group

The Silvermines Walking Group on their annual day trip to end the summer walking season are pictured on the metal footbridge at the start of the Dunmore Loop Walk in Durrow, Co Laois.

The group enjoyed a summer of Wednesday evening walks in their own scenic locality from May to September 2017. The routes varied from week to week and while the walkers were ‘stretching the limbs’, the outings served also as a great social event for all participants.

The Dunmore Loop Walk, which commenced at the village green in Durrow, was a combination of colour and variety as it meandered its way through woodland, across footbridges, and along  by the river Nore. The green arrows pointed the way for the Silvermines walkers. Having thoroughly enjoyed the walk, they arrived back around to the village again, well ready for the pre-arranged lunch.

Afternoon social dancing was also in full swing in the local hotel for anyone who had any leftover energy! It was a great day out.
