Cathal O'Neill (Stephen Fitzgerald), Jenny Bracken (Frances Fitzgerald), Margaret Walshe (Sarah) and Sarah Loughnane (Elaine Fitzgerald).

Nenagh Players take to the stage this weekend!

'Ariel' will be performed in Nenagh Arts Centre on Saturday February 25th and Sunday 26th before the Players go on the Drama Festival circuit.

Director Kirsty Burns has gathered a very talented cast: Kevin Walshe, Jenny Bracken McDonnell, Katie Grace, Sarah Loughnane, Stuart Andrew, Cathal O'Neill, Michael Kelly, Margaret Walshe, Donal Bray, and Heather Broad. Kirsty is also a member of the cast.

'Ariel' is set in the home of Fermoy Fitzgerald (Kevin Walshe), an uncompromising businessman in the Midlands who has already been defeated once in his bid for election to the Dáil but is determined to win on his second attempt. As the play opens, his family celebrates the sixteenth birthday of his daughter Ariel (Katie Grace), a celebration which quickly disintegrates into petty bickering.

Frances Fitzgerald (Jenny Bracken McDonnell) is Fermoy's long-suffering wife, who had been married before. Her former husband and child died, and she blames Fermoy for these deaths. Hannafin (Donal Bray), the political rival, asks Fermoy to withdraw from the election, threatening to reveal family scandals.

On the day of Ariel's sixteenth birthday, Fermoy makes a bargain with God.

'Ariel' is a play which deals with several major issues. The play is very well cast, and is an exceptional production.
