Green light for Nenagh sewer vents

Tipperary Co Council has granted planning permission for the installation of two sewerage ventilating columns in Nenagh.

Irish Water is to install two 7.6m ventilating columns on Pearse St to provide ventilation to the underground sewerage system. One is to be situated on the footpath outside Lily's public house, while the other will be situated on the footpath near the McDonagh street junction. The columns will consist of an ornamental cast iron base and will be painted black.

The council's environment section has reported that there will be no environmental issues of concern with the columns, which are intended do “facilitate an enhancement of odour nuisance abatement in the Nenagh environs”.
