Residents of Clúid Housing Take to the Streets for a Spring Clean!

It seems a spring-clean is infectious! Residents of Clúid’s housing schemes in Nenagh were busy improving their estates this month. It began in Ballygraigue Court where neighbours joined forces to organise a clean-up.

Their efforts were part of the An Taisce National Spring Clean, Ireland’s largest anti-litter initiative. And even the local Gardaí were on hand to support them!

Clúid’s Sue Rowley said: “It’s wonderful to see the strength of community here in Ballygraigue Court. Community involvement projects like the An Taisce National Spring Clean bring a lot to neighbourhoods like this. Thanks to the efforts of our tenants, everyone can enjoy the area that little bit more. Ballygraigue Court is a community to be proud of.”

She added: “I just want to thank the local Garda for their support as always.”

Later in the month neighbours of Ormond Drive also combined forces. Inspired by Ballygraigue Court, they donned their gloves and took to the streets to pick up litter around the area and improve the general appearance of their neighbourhood.

Ms. Rowley said: “When you have strong sense of community, amazing things happen! Ormond Drive is an exceptional scheme with a very powerful sense of community and caring neighbours who have great pride in their estate. You cannot measure the positive and rewarding impact a half an hour can make in the estate when the community interact together. The children’s involvement in the clean-up of Ormond Drive has developed and deepened their pride and respect in their estate, promoting personal responsibility for litter and heightening their awareness of litter and waste.”
