Pauric O'Meara, Borrisokane

Borrisokane Man progresses to next stage of 'The Voice'

As the second week of the 'Battle Stages' commences, we will see 14 more contestants go head to head to win a place in the 'Live Knockouts' in the “Voice of Ireland.”

Among these contestants will be popular favourite to win Pauric O'Meara who sailed through his blind audition with his rendition of the dance track, 'Maniac 2000.' Not only did he wow the audience but he also got all four judges to turn their chairs for him! Not to mention he was favourited top contestant to win by BT Sports!

Pauric, 21, will be up against young Swords singer, Karen Louise, 18, in the 'battle stages' and their performance will be the final one of the night! Both singers who are under the mentorship of Irish singer Bressie will be performing 'Have you Ever Seen Rain' by Credence with the hopes of progressing to the next stage of the competition.

Also performing on the night will be two pairs for Team Kian; Darragh Lee and Andrew Berry, and Laura Doyle and Cathy Moore. Team Una, who will also have two performaces on the night, will be represented by Mags White and Nigel Connell, and Eimear Crealey and Maria Cuche, and Team Rachel's Laura O'Connor and Sophie McDonnell.

As fellow team members are deemed to compete against each other, the judges must assign them a song and put together a duet. Whoever has the strongest performance on the night will be chosen by their mentor to progress to the 'live knockouts.' However, not all hope will be lost for those who are not chosen. The judges who are not mentoring the losing contestant will be given the oppertunity to 'steal' the contestant away, allowing them to remain in the competition. However, this can also provoke havoc if the judges press the buzzer and choose too late as we saw in last week's 'battle stage.' Team Kian's Ciara Freeman lost out to Jasmine Kavanagh and was about to be stolen, however 'The Saturdays' singer Una Foden hit her buzzer a little too late and Ciara Freeman therefore did not receive her second chance.

As Borrisokane man Pauric O'Meara battles it out in the second stage of the competition, it can be certain that he'll need his fellow Tipp natives behind him! So, be sure to tune in to RTÉ 1 on Sunday, February 28 at the later time of 7pm to show your support!
