Ace EP from local musician

PORTROE musician Mark Hogan's band Tigwara have released their long-awaited EP, and it's seriously impressive.

Four-piece alternative rock band Tigwara have finally dropped their much-anticipated, self-titled EP. Based in Limerick, the band includes Mark Hogan on vocals/guitar, Luke Brennan (vocals/guitar), Jamie Kelly (bass/cello) and Fionn O’Donoghue (drums). Tigwara explore and traverse the dark side of human nature, delving deep into the recesses of what makes us tick, live, love and feel.

Following the success of their first single release from the EP, ‘City Sleeps’, this dedicated collective powered through intensive recording and songwriting, pulling inspiration from the darkest of places to the brightest to bring this truly beautiful EP together in January 2016.

‘Gimme your Time’, the second track on the EP, is a sultry, downbeat rock song about passion, attraction and need, leading into ‘That Soul’, a funk-influenced song along the same vein with a slightly more sinister undertone and plenty of beautifully crafted instrumental moments, and finally ‘Pay for your Love’, a melodic and emotional tribute to love lost. Each song on the EP leads to the next, selling a tale of human emotion and depth, with haunting vocals throughout.

Tigwara have tirelessly gigged throughout Ireland in recent times, headlining in Dolan’s Warehouse Limerick on a number of occasions, sharing the stage with such revered acts as Hawk, Nenagh's Silent Noise Parade, and Fang Club, making appearances at various summer festivals such as Scrobarnach, Valentia Isle Festival, gathering a steady and growing fan base all over the country.

A combination of Irish and Brazilian language, 'Tigwara' translates to ‘free man’, fitting for a group of free-spirited and like-minded artists who unapologetically throw their energy into their stage performance, promising a bristling and raw show every single time.

Tigwara approach their songwriting with verve and open-mindedness, covering many styles without barriers. Tigwara range from Indie, and alt rock to funk and even draw some influence post and math rock genres.

Recorded and mixed by Ciaran Culhane and Wav Mastering in Limerick, this outstanding EP 'Tigwara' promises to bring you through a range of emotions via an impressive array of genres.
