Winter vomiting bug at nenagh hospital

UL Hospitals Group has announced that precautionary visitor restrictions are in place in the male medical ward at Nenagh hospital following one confirmed case of norovirus.
Another three patients are showing symptoms without norovirus having been confirmed. All infection control procedures are being followed in accordance with the national guidelines.
UL Hospitals regrets to advise that visits to patients in the male medical ward are restricted to close relatives only until further notice. Young children or anybody with an illness or compromised immune system should avoid visiting the ward at present. There is no restriction in visiting hours, which continue as normal from 2pm to 4pm and from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. No other area of the hospital (female ward, day ward, endoscopy suite, etc) is affected by the visitor restrictions.
Norovirus, often referred to as winter vomiting bug, is the most common cause of viral gastroenteritis in humans.
