Taoiseach visits templemore garda college

Tipperary TD Noel Coonan accompanied An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald to Thursday's passing out parade in Templemore Garda College saying this is another red letter day for Templemore and the second cohort of students to graduate from a revised training programme since Fine Gael recommenced recruitment.

Deputy Coonan said: 'An Taoiseach Enda Kenny is the first and only Taoiseach to attend a passing out parade in Templemore; and is also the only Taoiseach to ever visit the college. The presence of An Taoiseach and the Justice Minister in Templemore reinforces and reiterates Fine Gael's ongoing commitment to restoring our Garda force, to the continuation of recruitment and to enhancing Templemore's economy. The college will continue to employ local people and provide meaningful employment, and the students will continue to contribute to our community.

Deputy Coonan said Templemore will welcome 125 new students to the college next week.
