Newport await FAI Junior Cup draw

The draw for the FAI Junior Cup takes place on Friday.

Newport Town FC will find out their opponents in the sixth round of the FAI Junior Cup when the draw is made on Friday.

The North-Tipperary based Limerick District League side surprised many when they beat Carbury FC, who are the current Connacht Cup champions.

Sunday's thrilling fifth round tie played at Derryleigh Park saw the teams level after extra time with Christy Doyle and Sean Ryan scoring for Newport in the regulation 90. In the penalty-shootout, Peter O'Sullivan converted the all-important spot-kick to send the home side through to the last 32 of the biggest competition of its kind in Europe.

The sixth round of the FAI Junior Cup will take place in January.
