Hannah heads for Clonmel

A source of frustration, qualification for the National Coursing Meeting saw a very lean spell for local kennels throughout the early part of the 2018/19 season but having taken a turn for the better when Jamie Meagher’s Go Jetter claimed her ticket for the Oaks in victory at Borrisoleigh, last week’s Templetuohy renewal saw us double our representation in that classic as Magical Hannah returned a sparkling display to join her at Powerstown Park.

Remarkable efforts by the host club in recent years have made the Templetuohy meeting one of the most popular on the entire coursing scene with exceptional facilities complimenting wonderful sporting action as the Premier Cup meeting has become a standard bearer for all. Always accommodating for the Nenagh members, the victory of Alice Guilfoyle’s Magical Hannah (Coolavanny Bingo/Chubbys Havana) ensures intense interest at the festival come the first week of February, having been bred, trained and owned, locally.

The prolific dam-lines of the O’Meara family’s Chubbys breeding will need no introduction as one of the most influential the sport has ever known and renowned as a breed which thoroughly appreciates the unique demands of the exacting Powerstown galloping stretch, it should be of little surprise that Magical Hannah scored her Trial Stake victory on probably the longest field in the entire qualifying period.
