Tipperary's minor hurlers staved off a late Waterford challenge to ensure their first win of the Munster minor championship on Sunday afternoon.

Having made no less than six changes from the defeat to Cork, Tipperary manager Paul Collins re-jigged his side in a bid to pinpoint Waterford’s failings and it worked a treat as they shrugged off their opening day defeat to the Rebels to secure a hard-earned, yet deserved victory.

While their were many positives to take from the victory, Tipperary still have plenty to work on in advance of their trip to Clare, but a win is a win and two vital points secured will serve as a massive fillup to a side bristling with potential and now infused with the necessary confidence only a win in Semple can bring.

Waterford were forced to play all of the second half with just 14 players after Rory Furlong was dismissed on the stroke of half-time for a second bookable offence, but despite their numerical disadvantage they pushed Tipp all the way in an absorbing battle.
