Shelly inspires Mullinahone past Ballina

Mullinahone’s greater all round ability proved to much for Ballina in an entertaining opening round group 3 game in the O’Riain Cup on Sunday evening.

A lack of attacking prowess proved to be Ballina’s downfall. Trailing 0-11 to 1-7 at half time it looked as if they had turned a corner but the concession of goals in the 33rd & 53rd minutes allowed the Southsiders pull away to register a good win.

It was Jack Shelly, who must have caught the attention of the Tipp selectors, use the freedom of the park to score five points from play.
