Kilruane's Jerome Cahill has been called into the senior panel

Fresh look to Sheedy's first Tipp panel

New Tipperary senior hurling manager Liam Sheedy has included eleven new faces on his first 40 man panel which will begin their preparations for the 2019 campaign next weekend.

Six of the new additions come from the All Ireland winning under 21 side in goalkeeper Barry Hogan, defenders Robert Byrne, Paddy Cadell, Brian McGrath and Killian O'Dwyer, as well as half forwards Jerome Cahill and Colin English. It brings to twelve the number of players from that team now on the senior panel with Jake Morris, Dillon Quirke and Ger Browne already ensconced under previous manager Michael Ryan, while there is also a recalls for Cian Darcy and Mark Kehoe who were both previously part of the Tipperary senior panel.

There are also call-ups for Toomevara duo Mark McCarthy and Jason Ryan off fine club championship campaigns, as well as senior club hurler of the year Conor Hammersley of champions Clonoulty-Rossmore. Drom & Inch defender Jamie Moloney is also new to the set-up while there is a recall for Eire Og Annacarty's Tom Fox who was dropped from the panel prior to the 2018 championship. Kiladangan's David Sweeney, who sustained a serious knee injury shortly after receiving a call-up in late 2017, has gotten a second opportunity.

Ten players have not been retained from the 2018 championship panel.
