Minister Madigan launched Cruinniú na nÓg, which takes place this Saturday.

Day of creativity for youngsters

Now in its second year, Cruinniú na nÓg is back and it is even bigger this year with over 750 free creative activities for under 18s programmed across the country this Saturday, June 15th.  An initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme supported by the Local Authorities and RTE, Minister Madigan has encouraged young people to join in the fun and participate in something creative in their local area for Cruinniú na nÓg.

With hundreds of free events, workshops, exhibitions and performances, and a special focus on starter workshops to encourage young people to try something new, Cruinniú na nÓg is an opportunity for children and young people to fulfil a secret creative ambition or showcase their inner creative hero!

Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Josepha Madigan, said: “Ireland is the only country in the world to have a day of free creativity for children and young people. Although this is only the second year of Cruinniú na nÓg, it has already become a firm fixture in our cultural calendar with over 750 free creative activities programmed all over the country this Saturday.”

Cruinniú na nÓg is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth Plan to enable the creative potential of every child and young person. It aims to celebrate and encourage children and young people’s participation in culture and creativity in activities such as art, music, coding and theatre workshops, performances, exhibitions, readings, film screenings and much more. To mark the second year of the initiative, three young Cruinniú na nÓg ambassadors were appointed to advocate and encourager young people to get involved in something creative on the day and try one of the free local workshops or special events.
