Drugs seizures in Nenagh

Gardaí have made a number of drug-related arrests in Nenagh over recent days.

On Tuesday of last week the Divisional Drugs Unit searched a youth on the Borrisokane Road and found a quantity of tablets in his possession. The search was reportedly carried out after gardaí observed items being passed from one person to the other.

On the same date at Tullaheady, the Divisional Drugs Unit stopped and searched a car and found an estimated €30 worth of cannabis herb. A house in Yewston was searched last Sunday and cocaine valued at around €70 was discovered. It is understood that the discovery was made after gardaí became suspicious of a car in the area.

Meanwhile in Roscrea, gardaí intercepted two males who were observed carrying iron bars in the Railway View area. It is thought they may have been on their way to another disturbance in the town at the time. A file is being prepared for the DPP.

At Railway View on the same date, gardaí were called to a public order incident in which youths were alleged to be causing an annoyance. They became abusive towards the gardaí and will be dealt with under the youth referral programme.

A dinghy was stolen from a boat moored in Dromineer Harbour between September 1st and 3rd. The dinghy, which was tied to a larger boat, is estimated to be valued at €1,000. Gardaí are warning people to make sure property is locked in sheds or garages. This follows the theft of a quantity of tools from the side of a house at Old Road, Silvermines, last Friday.

A file is being prepared for the DPP after the gardaí in Roscrea were alerted to sulky racing at Ballinakill at 7.30pm last Wednesday. The alleged offences relate to cruelty to animals.
