Cllr Michael O’Meara questioned Tipperary County Council as to whether a design team had been appointed.
A Tipperary County Council spokesperson said that it was ‘in the process of appointing someone’.
Cllr Michael O’Meara said that being in the ‘process of appointing and appointed are two different things’ and stated that once someone is appointed, that they are to consult the local group
Cllr Michael O’Meara asked the council for ‘assurance that [they] are putting our best foot forward’ and highlighted how the community out there has been “very understanding” but that “their patience is wearing thin now.”
This sentiment was echoed by Cllr Seamie Morris who said that he was of the opinion “that the hand-brake has been pulled on this,” and highlighted that a “lot of promises” had been made.
Cllr Joe Hannigan said that it had been four or five years since this process had begun and said that the ‘process that had taken place, warrants an investigation’.
“Is the whole process flawed that we have been talking about it for four/five-year?” questioned Cllr Hannigan.
Response from the local authority
Speaking on behalf of Tipperary County Council, Liam Brett said that “one piece of work needs to be signed off on” and that the project was “imminent”.
It was also stated that it was a “reasonably contained job within the village” and that it should be “fairly straightforward”.
