Nenagh College hosts careers exhibition

On Thursday, October 1 Nenagh College became a vibrant hub of opportunity as we welcomed over 700 students from the three secondary schools in Nenagh and Borrisokane Community College to our Careers Exhibition. Representatives from colleges, universities, Tipperary ETB, local businesses, employers and organisations showcased the wide range of pathways available to our students.

The hall was buzzing with energy and curiosity as students engaged with exhibitors, asked questions, explored their interests and collected valuable information, prospectuses, and plenty of free merchandise!

The exhibition gave students the opportunity to talk to people, discover and explore interests, pathways and learn more about the skills, careers and opportunities available across different sectors.

Students met directly with employers and professionals, gaining insight into the skills they seek and the career opportunities they offer. Abbey Machinery, for example, highlighted its OEM Engineering Apprenticeship and opportunities in the engineering sector and PAM Ireland Ryan Air, brought along local apprentice Ethan Powell, to showcase their Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Apprenticeship. ABP Foods, Carey Glass careers , Johnson & Johnson, Stryker, Sports Plus physio, Summerhill Veterinary Clinic, Supermacs, The Lunch Bag- all brought valuable expert advice into careers within their sectors.

A special mention must go to our Transition Year Ambassadors, who absolutely outdid themselves!

From directing traffic and helping with the set-up, to welcoming visitors and catering to the needs of exhibitors and staff throughout the hall, they were a credit to themselves and to our school. Their enthusiasm, maturity, organisation and willingness to help were evident throughout the day.

We are filled with a great sense of pride in our student ambassadors. They truly carried the vibrancy, energy and spirit of Nenagh College into every aspect of the event.

Today, showcased the talent, ambition and possibilities within our school community in Nenagh College and indeed across our local secondary school communities.

We hope every student who attended came away with ideas, information and perhaps a pathway that sparked their interest. Most importantly, we hope they left knowing that there are so many possibilities open to them and that their future can take them in many different and exciting directions.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a wonderful, engaging and interactive experience. The enthusiasm, conversations and curiosity throughout the hall were fantastic to see.

A huge thank you to all the colleges, universities, employers, organisations and exhibitors who generously shared their time and expertise.
