Tipperary Racecourse hosts second public update
Tipperary Racecourse hosts second public update as world-class all-weather track and revamped turf track progress towards October 2027 launch
Tipperary Racecourse hosted their second public update event on Friday to share the latest progress and construction milestones for Ireland’s second all-weather track and the turf track which has been completely remodelled and resurfaced.
The briefing welcomed neighbours, members of the racing community, local business owners, elected officials and community stakeholders to review the physical progress of the development.
Following the official sod-turning ceremony in February 2026 and the initial progress report in June, this second forum highlighted the project's momentum as it advances through the construction phase. Those in attendance also took part in a tour of the new tracks.
The state-of-the-art all-weather track is on schedule for completion by the end of Q3 2027, clearing the way for a winter racing programme to debut from October 23. Nine all-weather track fixtures are scheduled to take place to the end of 2027 at the redeveloped venue.
The progress update offered detail on:
Track layout and construction status: An update on the physical transformation of the track, including the foundation works for the all-weather track and the work undertaken on the turf to turn it into a year-round racing surface.
Economic and regional impact: Insights into how the facility will anchor the southern racing region—positioning year-round training capabilities within a 90-minute drive of 60% of Ireland's horse trainers.
Projected operational timelines: A breakdown of the final construction phases heading into 2027.
Andrew Hogan, Tipperary Racecourse Manager, stated: "We were delighted to welcome our neighbours, local stakeholders and industry partners back for our second progress update on Friday. The transformation happening on-site is very exciting for the county and indeed the country. This project isn't just about building a second all-weather track for Ireland; it's about future-proofing our local racing infrastructure and delivering long-term, year-round economic benefit directly to Tipperary and the region."
Tipperary Racecourse Committee Chairman, Maurice Moloney, added: "Maintaining a highly collaborative, transparent relationship with the local community and the wider industry is a priority for the team at Tipperary Racecourse and Horse Racing Ireland. As construction moves towards our 2027 deadline, this second progress update ensures that local businesses and stakeholders remain informed about and aligned with a development that will elevate the entire Irish racing ecosystem."
