Harp Day at Nenagh Arts Centre
Nenagh Arts Centre is delighted to take part in Harp Day/ Lá na Cruite 2026, a nationwide celebration of Ireland's national instrument, on Saturday, October 17.
Coordinated annually by Harp Ireland, Harp Day brings together harpists, learners and audiences across the country to celebrate the rich musical heritage and enduring appeal of the Irish harp through workshops, performances and community events.
As part of this year's programme, acclaimed harpist, tutor and performer Cathy Potter will lead a workshop for intermediate harp players from 12 noon to 2pm. Designed for those with at least two years' playing experience, the session will provide participants with an opportunity to develop their technique, expand their repertoire and learn alongside fellow harp enthusiasts.
Following the workshop, Cathy will present a public recital from 2.30pm to 3.30pm, showcasing the beauty, versatility and expressive range of the Irish harp through a varied programme of music.
Based in Ennis, Co Clare, Cathy is widely respected as a performer and educator, and has inspired generations of harp players through her teaching and dedication to traditional Irish music.
Whether participating in the workshop or attending the recital, audiences can look forward to a wonderful celebration of Ireland's harp tradition and an opportunity to connect with fellow music lovers.
The workshop takes place from 12 noon to 2pm, followed by the recital from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Participants in the workshop should have a minimum of two years' playing experience and must bring their own instrument.
