One night for all: Culture Night returns

Culture Night 2026 will return on Friday, September 18, inviting people across County Tipperary to come together for a night of free cultural discovery, creativity and connection in towns, villages and rural communities.

This year, Tipperary will host a wide-ranging programme of free events, with 53 events taking place across 18 towns and villages. From live music, theatre, workshops, exhibitions, family events, to late-night activity, the local programme will offer people of all ages the chance to experience culture on their doorstep.

At the heart of Culture Night is the ethos of One Night for All. A shared night of culture that is welcoming, local and free. Whether planning a full evening of events, joining something nearby on the night, bringing family and friends along, or seeing a familiar place in a new way, people across Ireland are invited to take part and connect through culture.

Now in its 21st year, Culture Night is stewarded by the Arts Council in partnership with Local Authorities across Ireland, with support from the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport. Locally, the Tipperary Arts Office works with artists, venues, libraries, galleries, theatres, studios, cultural organisations, community groups and organisers to help bring the programme to life across the county.

Programme highlights

Nenagh Arts Centre hosts a ‘Give Sean Nós a Go’ Dance Workshop, an energetic and engaging workshop celebrating one of Ireland’s most distinctive dance traditions, led by acclaimed Sean Nós dancer Ranóg Townsend. Local poets and writers will entertain us at Nenagh Tourist Office with a showcase of their words, rhythm and inspiration. Local musician and Singer Robbie Glennon will perform appropriate songs throughout the evening between each piece. ‘Trad Ceol’ will return to The Thatch in Ballycommon for an evening of traditional music, song and dance, while the Terryglass Hall Film Club presents a viewing of ‘Playboy of the Western World’, a modern production of the famous classic, filmed live at the National Theatre, South Bank London.

Join Damer House Gallery in the Black Mills in Roscrea for an engaging evening with artist Bernie Masterson and performance poet Máighréad Medbh offering insight into their creative practices. Newport Community Centre will be buzzing for Culture Night celebrating Irish culture with music, song, dance and poetry.

Cloughjordan is the place to be with artists Julie Lockett and Andy Spearpoint organising a Line Dance Samba Carnival in St. Kieran’s Hall, combining Line dancing with live Samba music, and the launch of an art exhibition inspired by the Hedge School themes of Memory and Legacy at the Thomas MacDonagh Museum. The exhibition is curated by Lian Callaghan and features members of the North Tipperary Artists’ Collective.

Culture Night late

Culture Night Late will return in 2026, bringing the energy of Culture Night into the evening with free events designed for after-dark discovery. In Thurles, The Source Arts Centre presents live music from 8pm onwards in the redeveloped Market Quarter with emerging rock bands Charcoal Greys and Paradise Conspiracy. Having formed in 2024, Charcoal Greys has performed dozens of gigs most recently supporting The Academic in Cyprus Avenue. Charcoal Greys also recently played their first headline at The Source.

Enter The Night returns to Clonmel for Culture Night Late 2026 from 9 to 11pm with a new generation of Tipperary musicians at its heart. A selected group of musicians aged 16–25 will form the Enter The Night Supergroup. Over August and September, the group will collaborate and rehearse under the musical direction of Stephen McGrath (Crow Black Chicken) and the mentorship of renowned Irish artists Sarah Corcoran (Pillow Queens) and Cathal Mac Gabhann (The Altered Hours), culminating in a once-off live performance on Kickham Plaza, Clonmel.

With the added spectacle of Stagecraft Youth Theatre, support from Clonmel Junction Arts Festival and Music Generation Tipperary, and a rousing finale with Clonmel Community Choir, this is a Culture Night performance not to be missed.
