Sponsoring Borrisokane tennis tournament

Premier Credit Union has been announced as the main sponsor of the Borrisokane Tennis Club Interfirms Tournament 2026.

The tournament is one of the highlights of the club’s calendar and is expected to draw up to 50 firms and approximately 200 players, along with spectators from Borrisokane and surrounding communities.

Established in May 2023, Borrisokane Tennis Club has grown to 120 active members. Following an upgrade to its courts in early 2025, the club has continued to expand its activities, including adult social tennis, junior sessions, coaching, and participation in regional competitions.

Club representatives Donald Austin and Anita Toohey recently visited Premier Credit Union’s Borrisokane branch to officially launch the sponsorship programme.

Brian King, CEO of Premier Credit Union, said the sponsorship reflects the credit union’s commitment to supporting the communities it serves. “We are delighted to come on board as the main sponsor of the Interfirms Tournament. Since our merger with Borrisokane Credit Union earlier this year, Borrisokane and the surrounding area have become an integral part of the wider Premier Credit Union community. Supporting local clubs, organisations, and initiatives is an important part of who we are.”

Welcoming the partnership, Anita Toohey the Chair of Borrisokane Tennis Club said the support would help the club deliver a successful tournament and continue to develop tennis locally.

Donald Austin noted that the club's growth to 120 members in just three years demonstrated strong local interest in tennis and said the club was looking forward to welcoming players and supporters throughout the tournament.

Claire Donnelly, Borrisokane Branch Lead at Premier Credit Union, added: "The merger has been very successful to date, and it has been great to see Premier Credit Union continue the strong tradition of community support that was always so important to Borrisokane Credit Union. We have already been delighted to support a number of local clubs and organisations since the merger, and this sponsorship is another positive example of that commitment.”

Premier Credit Union wished Borrisokane Tennis Club, the participating teams and everyone involved in organising the tournament every success over the coming weeks.
