Hockey season resumes with new pitch imminent

While the Nenagh Hockey Club and Nenagh College await the completion of the new all-weather multi-sport facility, the hockey club begin their new season this week.

Open to boys and girls of all ages and abilities, as well as senior players for both men's and women's teams, the club is going from strength to strength. This growth and development was rewarded at the end of last season when Nenagh Hockey Club won the Hockey Ireland Munster Branch Club of the Year award.

Based at Nenagh College, the hockey club's new state of the art all-weather pitch promises to be an outstanding sporting facility for the club, school and wider community. It is expected to be completed by the end of September.

While the hockey season runs from September to April, the club has run successful social nights through the summer for all abilities. It is envisaged that these nights will continue once the new facility is opened.

Also running over the summer were inter-provincial hockey tournaments. Nenagh’s Hugo Stanley was selected on the Munster U16 team who played Leinster and Ulster over a three-day competition. Hugo plays with Nenagh's men's team and is currently a TY student in Borrisokane Community College.
