Poetry reading and author interview to open festival

Poetry and an interview with an author are set to open the Dromineer Nenagh Literary Festival.
This year’s festival opens on Wednesday, October 7, at 9pm in the landmark Una Powell’s pub. Four poets will read from the recent and new work.
Jan Brierton is a Dublin-born poet and performer known for her rhythmic, heartfelt poems and relatable storytelling. She discovered her poetry voice in 2021 and has since published two collections.
Nicola Clare is a Dublin-based poet and spoken word artist known for her evocative, honest and powerful performances. Her work often explores personal experience, resilience, mental health and connection.
Conor Killeen is a spoken word artist and poet from Dunboyne. He began performing at open mics around Dublin, and has since performed at Beyond the Pale and Dublin’s Finest.
Raphael Olympio is a talented and passionate musician and poet who skilfully explores various genres. He’s a well-known rapper known for his song EPG and co-founder of Sauti Studios at Cork Migrant Centre. Raphael has performed at Electric Picnic, Indiependence Festival, West Cork Literature festival and UCC’s Other Voices.
This event is in partnership with the Irish Writer’s Centre and while admittance is free - booking is advised
The following night’s festival event will be on the shores of Lough Derg. At 7.30pm in Lough Derg Yacht Club, writer and former librarian Jackie Lynam will interview Cormac Quinn about his recent novel Murder on Lough Derg.
Tickets for this event are €15 and includrs a wine reception sponsored by The Wine Buff, Nenagh
Cormac Quinn is a Dublin-based debut author. A lifelong devotee of detective fiction, Quinn began reading murder mysteries at a remarkably young age and has maintained his passion for the genre ever since. His debut novel Murder on Lough Derg features journalist Jack Myers who feels a mysterious drowning that happens while he is holidaying near Lough Derg is no accident.
