Thieves targeting unlocked cars

Gardaí have detected a rise in thefts from vehicles in the Nenagh district, often in cases where the vehicle was left unlocked.

Recent incidents include thefts from cars at Tyone, Friar St and Farnamurray Close in the town of Nenagh. One suspect has been arrested and charged in relation to these thefts.

Gardaí are warning that opportunistic thieves are targeting unlocked vehicles, and they are advising motorists to ensure that their vehicle is always locked when not attended.

A Toyota Landcruiser and trailer were stolen at Carrigatoher on August 7. The jeep was later recovered in the Thomondgate area of Limerick city while was the trailer was found at Rhebogue.

A wing mirror was reportedly kicked off a car at Woodview Close, Nenagh, on August 6. Another incident of criminal damage to a vehicle was reported at Millersbrook on August 8; a suspect has been arrested and charged in relation to the latter incident.
