Fined over yellow number plate

‘Far be it for me to comment on style,” mused Judge Marie Keane at Nenagh District Court.

“I don’t see what you find attractive about a yellow number plate,” continued the judge to Jamie Philip Cottrell (23) of Cluain Muillean, Ballygraigue Road, Nenagh, who recently appeared before Nenagh District Court for non-display of tax and for having non-conforming number plates on his vehicle.

Mr Conttrell was stopped by gardaí in Springfort Industrial Park, Nenagh on November 27, 2025. The court heard that the vehicle had been since back-taxed.

Judge Keane convicted Mr Cottrell for having a non-conforming number plate on the front of his vehicle and fined him €100 with four months to pay. The back number plate was taken into consideration.

Mr Cottrell was also fined €100 with four months to pay for non-display of a disc.
