Classic cars and record crowds at the Nenagh show

RIGHT: Winner of ‘Favourite Corolla in Show 2026’, Toyota Corolla KE25 SL.The Nenagh Classic Car Club held its 12th annual show in association with the North Tipperary Agricultural Show on the August bank holiday Monday last. The morning of the show started brightly as the sun made an early appearance to welcome the many show attenders who started to arrive in great numbers. The newly gritted driveway into the showgrounds was busy from the moment the gates opened as a large convoy of vintage cars started to roll in. There was a sense of optimism that this show day was going to be a busy day, and it certainly did not disappoint.
Well over 300 cars were on display at the Nenagh Classic Car Club Show this year. The oldest car was a fantastic 1928 Austin 6, which travelled from Limerick driven by car enthusiast Gerry Bourke. The theme for this year’s show was ‘60 years of the Toyota Corolla in Ireland’ – a theme that proved extremely popular as we had over 100 Toyota Corollas on display alone.
The Corollas ranged from the early 1970s KE20 Corolla right up to the E12 Corolla from the mid-00s. There was even a convoy of people driving 1970s Corollas who travelled from the north of Ireland especially to display their cars in Nenagh at the show.
The Car of the Show and winner of the ‘Eric Campbell Cup’ was Sean O’Sullivan for his amazing 1963 Panhard Convertible. This car is the only one of its kind in right-hand drive in the world! The car was beautifully restored under Sean’s tenure of ownership and it is an absolute credit to him.
The standard of cars at this show was absolutely amazing and a credit to their owners, but it really made a tough job for our judges. The members of the Nenagh Classic Car Club were absolutely blown away by with the level of support the show has received over the years and particularly this year as the show grows from strength to strength.
