The Watch Centre Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship

Roscrea and Kilruane MacDonaghs will contest the 2026 Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship Final which is provisionally fixed for Saturday, August 15th.

The Watch Centre Junior ‘B’ Hurling Championship

Toomevara had a big win over Burgess last Thursday to keep their name in the hat for the knockout stages. The opening score of the game was a goal for Toome and they built up an eight point lead close to half time which Burgess were unable to reel back in the second half.

The second game of the weekend saw Portroe and Borrisokane play out an exciting 0-18 to 1-15 draw which keeps Portroe in the hunt for a knockout place.

The last round in group 1 will take place next weekend and both games are knockout hurling. Toomevara host Portroe while Borrisokane, who sit top of the table with five points, take on bottom of the table Kiladangan who are already eliminated, Burgess are the third team who sit on four points but have played all their games and looks a very unlikely scenario for them to progress.

Newport, Ballina, Roscrea and Moneygall all await the top 2 from group 1 in the knockout stage.

Ger Gavin Minor Hurling Championships

With just one round remaining in the Minor ‘A’ Hurling Championship the picture is very clear.

In Group 1, Newport and Roscrea are guaranteed to qualify following last weeks results where Roscrea received a walkover from Silvermines while Newport had a big victory over Burgess. Neither team can now be caught as they are both sitting on six points with Ballina third on Two. Silvermines will take on Ballina this Wednesday and Newport will finish the group top of the table on eight points and Roscrea second on six points after Roscrea conceded their game to Newport.

In Group 2 things are closer. Borris-Ileigh have a bye in the last round but sit top on six points and are qualified, Kilruane sit in second place on four points with Kiladangan and Toomevara next level on three points apiece. This week, Kilruane face Toomevara and Kiladangan face Nenagh Eire Og. A win for Kiladangan and Toomevara would see Borris-Ileigh qualify with the second spot going down to score difference between Kiladangan and Toomevara, however if Kilruane defeat Toomevara they would qualify alongside Borris-Ileigh regardless of the result between Nenagh & Kiladangan.

Round 3 of the Minor ‘B’ Championship takes place on Wednesday, August 5th where Ballinahinch/Templederry host Moneygall in Shallee and Naomh Eoin Host Portroe in Borrisokane.

These games will decide the semi-final pairings with 1st playing 4th and 2nd playing 3rd.

Sympathies to North Board Secretary Patay Hanley and the Hanley family on the passing of Patsy’s father James last week.

Refereeing

Well done to Abbey Finn from Ballinahinch who took charge of her first adult men’s competitive game last week in the Junior ‘C’ Hurling Championship between Ballina and Nenagh Eire Og. The game ended in a draw and Abbey put in a fine performance on the whistle.

Juvenile

The knockout stages of the Juvenile hurling championships are coming up across the grades. Check the Tipperary GAA fixtures website for details as they are not available at the time of going to print.
