Drove with ‘homicidal level of alcohol’

A Nenagh man was recently disqualified from driving for a period of three years due to driving while intoxicated.

Michael O’Rouke (48) of Summerhill, was found to have 287mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood after being arrested on suspicion of drink driving on October 25 last. This offence occurred at Lisbunny, Nenagh. He had one previous conviction for a similar offence.

Solicitor Elizabeth McKeever told the court that Mr O’Rourke had a significant issue with alcohol and understood that he was looking at a three-year disqualification.

Judge Marie Keane said that it was a “homicidal level of alcohol” and that Mr O’Rouke “clearly has a significant alcohol addiction”.

Mr O’Rourke was also fined €200 with four months to pay.
