Cahill commits for another 3 years as Tipp senior hurling manager

Liam Cahill has been ratified as Tipperary senior hurling manager for another three years.

The news was announced at a meeting of Tipperary County Board in Thurles on Tuesday evening with no details on the backroom team signalled as yet.

County chairperson Jimmy Minogue, in putting Cahill forward for ratification, said in discussions with the Ballingarry clubman since the end of Tipp’s disappointing 2026 campaign, that the focus will be on youth for 2027 in building a new panel that can win the county’s 30th All-Ireland over the next three years.

The platform is there to do so with players from All-Ireland minor and under 20 winning teams over the last four years set to come on stream, some of whom have already made their name.

The 2025 All-Ireland winning manager will stay in the role at least until the end of the 2029 season which will be his seventh year in charge of Tipperary and sixteenth consecutive year managing a team at all levels since he became Tipp minor boss in 2014.

Cahill established himself as one of the most successful underage managers in Tipperary's history, winning All-Ireland titles at minor, U20 and U21 level before taking the senior reins ahead of the 2023 season. Last year he led the team to an All-Ireland title, beating Cork in the final.
