Fined €1,000 over traffic accident

A motorist was recently fined €1,000 and banned from driving for three months for failing to provide information to gardaí following a traffic accident in Borrisokane.

Peter Kotulak (42) of Cloughjordan Road, Borrisokane, was given four months to pay after being convicted of the offence at Church Road on June 6 last year. Recalling previously heard evidence in the case, which Mr Kotulak contested, Judge Marie Keane said the defendant had given “simply zero cooperation” to the gardaí. The injured party had had to claim off their insurance for the damage, which cost €3,300.

Mr Kotulak appeared before Nenagh District Court with 32 previous convictions. Leave to appeal was granted.
