Nenagh Through My Lens - a collection of photographs by Shivaniee Nadarajah - will be on display in Nenagh Library until the end of July.

New perspective on an old town

In photography, the most important thing is not the equipment - it is your eye, your curiosity, and your willingness to see the extraordinary in ordinary moments. So says Shivaniee Nadarajah, a mobile phone photographer, based in Nenagh. Today, almost everyone has a camera in their pocket and Shivaniee hopes that this exhibition of photographs, capturing the beauty in everyday moments of Nenagh, will encourage others to slow down and look a little closer at our surroundings every day.

Born and raised in Sri Lanka, where colour is woven into everyday life, Shivaniee grew up with a vibrant culture. Festivals, traditions, clothing and celebrations are full of magnificent colours, and they shaped the way she sees the world. Moving to Nenagh, she was delighted to discover that same sense of beauty here - in the changing seasons, colourful flowers, historic streets, rolling countryside, and the warmth of the local community.

She began taking walks with her phone in hand and started capturing the moments that caught her eye: the light after the rain, reflections in windows, the changing colours of the landscape, and the quiet beauty that often goes unnoticed. Those walks helped her connect with her new home, and photography soon became a passion. Every photograph in this exhibition was taken on a mobile phone. It will remain in Nenagh Library until the end of July and so we encourage everyone to drop in and get a new perspective on an old town.
