New artistic director for Nenagh Arts Centre
Nenagh Arts Centre is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Fiana Ní Chonaill as its new artistic director.
Originally from Castleconnell, Co Limerick, Dr Ní Chonaill brings extensive experience as an arts and cultural leader, educator, researcher and performer. Her career has encompassed artistic programming, community engagement, education and cultural development, with leadership roles across organisations including Music Generation, Tuamgraney Harp Festival and the Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick.
An accomplished harpist and recording artist, Dr Ní Chonaill has released two albums and is deeply committed to the preservation and promotion of Ireland's rich musical heritage. She also holds a PhD from the University of Limerick, where her research focused on traditional Irish music festivals and cultural tourism.
While beginning a new chapter at Nenagh Arts Centre, Dr Ní Chonaill is no stranger to the area, having previously taught harp with the Ballycommon Comhaltas branch and maintained strong family connections to the region.
Speaking about her appointment, Dr Ní Chonaill said: “I am honoured to join Nenagh Arts Centre as Artistic Director and to become part of an organisation with such a strong reputation for creativity, community engagement and artistic excellence. I look forward to working alongside the dedicated team, artists, volunteers and supporters who make the centre such a vibrant cultural space.
