Maher frustrated at not getting a result

It was a disappointed Caoimhe Maher following her sides three-point defeat at the hands of Cork in the All-Ireland championship on Sunday afternoon.
“Definitely disappointed,” began the Burgess/Duharra player.
“Obviously, we wanted to come and get the win so we’re going to have to regroup again with just the one game left and see can we make the best of that so yeah not what we wanted, but at least we know it’s not the end of the road yet.”
For Maher it was a much-improved performance from the opening round against Waterford, and she was happy with aspects of the display, but is now looking for the full sixty-minute performance going forward.
“There’s nothing like a bad performance to motivate you to go out as hard as you can the next day. We definitely put some good patches of play together, a lot better than the Waterford game,” she said.
“We got a lot more flow into our game but probably got a little bit tired towards the end and they started coming in waves, which we found hard to deal with, but we played well in parts, some real good stuff and if we can convert that into sixty minutes the next day it will be massive.”
The centre-back is now looking forward to a two week break ahead of another massive game against All-Ireland champions Galway but for Maher she wouldn’t want it any other way.
“Every game this year was going to be a big game; that’s kind of the way it’s going to fall with the way the groups are.
“You want to be going out every week playing against the best and testing yourself against the best, and learning as much as you can, so yeah, a big game against Galway for both sides really.
“But it will be good to have the two-week break and regroup, rest and reset again before we go again in the final round,” she said.
