Failed to pay for fuel
A man appeared before Nenagh District Court after he failed to pay for diesel with a fuel card.
Adam Smith (21) of Tobar Mhuire, Nenagh told the Spar Shop on Dublin Road in Nenagh that his fuel card was not working and that he would return to pay for the €217 of diesel. Mr Smith failed to return to pay for the fuel.
His solicitor, Ian McNamara told the court that Mr Smith was intending to pay with a fuel card, but it was not working at the time. As a result, Mr Smith panicked because he didn’t have the funds to pay for the fuel and left his details with the fuel station before he left. He had since paid the full outstanding amount to the fuel station.
Judge Marie Keane fined Mr Smith €250 with four months to pay for the theft of the fuel.
The court also heard that Mr Smith previously failed to appear before Mallow court in relation to another matter. A bench warrant had been issued for his arrest. He was bailed to appear before the Mallow court the following week.
