Green light for Newport school
The Board of Management of Saint Mary’s Secondary School in Newport has received conditional planning permission for a new extension.
The extension to the rear of the existing sports hall is to be part single and part two-storey, and will be attached to the existing school building. The additional accommodation is to comprise a two-class base special education needs unit, graphics room, two science laboratories, home economics room, three general classrooms, staff office, sanitary accommodation, ancillary rooms, plant and stores.
Minor works are proposed to the existing building to facilitate the new extension to include façade and layout changes in the vicinity of the connection to the new extension. The works will include the provision of landscaped courtyard and play spaces adjoining the new extension, amendments to the existing road and landscape layouts to support the new extension, six additional carparking spaces and all ancillary works.
